Late Fall is Still Special in New England
The trees are mostly bare now, and the snows have not yet begun to fall in earnest. Believe it or not, this is one of my favorite times in New England. I love the way the dark tree reach their spindly arms into in dusky skies. I love how the crisp air starts to smell of snow – enticing hints of the winter to come. I love the days when I awaken to startlingly blue skies.
Late November and early December in New Hampshire are quiet as the state winds down from the leaf peeping frenzy of October and gears up for snow and skiers. This is an often overlooked time to travel to a New Hampshire hotel, but consider the advantages: no crowds, no bugs, and the same picturesque New England towns that are here the rest of the year. You can’t go wrong.
The White Mountains are as lovely as ever. Hiking can be truly enjoyable at this time of year, although hikers need to be prepared for sudden snows and drops in temperature. Any outdoor activity – even rushing from shop to shop – makes you feel like you deserve to spend the evening in front of the fire with a warm cup of tea or a glass of wine. The chill in the air makes sinking into your private hot tub feel positively delicious.
We are currently offering two great specials at our hotel White Mountains: 20% off weekends and 30% off mid-week bookings of standard or superior rooms through mid December. Spend a night or two with us while you shop for gifts at Santa’s Village in Jefferson, or recover from hosting Thanksgiving, or rest before hosting Christmas. Enjoy a Jingle Bell Chocolate Sleigh Tour of Jackson. No matter what you choose to do, you are sure to enjoy your time with us.
